At Firth House, we provide residential care for 40 older people who have varying abilities and for those who want to maintain their independence but now find that they need some practical and personal care. Staff are on hand 24-hours a day to provide care and support.

Set in a quiet location and in its own attractive grounds, Firth House is in the centre of the beautiful market town of Selby. It is close to the local shops, libraries, pubs and post office. Most rooms have lovely views of the well-maintained gardens and some on the ground floor have patio doors leading to their own patio area.

Accommodation

• Single en-suite rooms with WC and washbasin

• Telephone point in each room for your own direct line

• Television point and connections for satellite and digital TV

• Call bells in each room providing 24 hour help

• Rooms decorated to high standard

• We encourage personal items to be brought in to enhance your room

• Guest room is available for your friends or relatives to stay overnight

• One main lounge with TV and music system. There are also quiet areas for reading and relaxation

• Tea-making facilities are available where you and your visitors can make drinks

• Additional bathrooms specially equipped so you can relax in a comfort,

• Lift to upper floor

Dining

• Breakfast is served in the dining room or you can enjoy a continental breakfast brought to your room

• Choice of healthy and nutritious meals and any special dietary requirements are catered for

• Unlike other care homes, there is no need to order food in advance

Leisure activities

• Newspapers can be delivered daily to your room

• Firth House has very elegant gardens to sit out in summer with grassy areas, a patio and several sitting areas, including a summer house

• Stimulating and wide-ranging activities are organised at our home each week

• Wheelchair access and car parking are available

• Pets are welcome by arrangement

• We have a personal laundry facility and laundry service

• A pay telephone is available

Health and personal care

• There is a GP is available on request and 3 local surgeries

• Our Hairdresser visits 1-2 times a week

• Our Chiropodist visits every 4-6 weeks or on request

• Physiotherapist visits by arrangement

• The District Nurse visits by arrangement

• Dentist & Optician – visiting and local service available

• Holistic therapy – details of local providers available

• Town centre of Selby is only ½ a mile away

• Golf course 3 miles

• Bowling green is 1/2 mile away

• Town Hall ½ mile

• Swimming pool ¼ mile

• Market1/4 mile Mondays and Saturdays

• Selby Abbey ½ mile

• Canal walks 2 miles

• There are excellent bus and train routes to Leeds, Hull , Doncaster and the Historic town of York which is also a short car ride away
