We’re here to help and look forward to giving you a warm welcome.

At Cranlea, we provide residential care for 39 older people who have physical disabilities, moderate dementia, moderate learning disabilities and those who want to maintain their independence but now find that they need some practical and personal care. We also provide care for 10 older people who have mental health needs. Staff are on hand 24-hours a day to provide care and support.

Cranlea is a spacious, purpose –built non-smoking building with 2 floors and is set in a quiet location in its own well maintained grounds. Cranlea is close to the local shops, and has excellent bus and metro routes to the coast, Newcastle City Centre and Newcastle Airport . Cranlea is also very accessible by car.

Accommodation

• Single en-suite rooms with WC and washbasin

• Telephone point in all bedrooms for your own direct line

• Television point and connections for digital and satellite TV

• Call bells in each room providing 24-hour help

• Rooms decorated to high standard

• We encourage personal items to be brought in to enhance your room

• Cosy main lounge with TV. Other quiet areas to read

• There is a conservatory and patio area for sitting out in summer

• Tea and coffee-making facilities are available for you and your guests

• Bathrooms specially equipped so you can relax in comfort or take a shower if you wish

• Lift to upper floors

Dining

• Choice of healthy and nutritious meals and any special dietary requirements catered for

• Meals are served in the dining room or you can enjoy meals brought to your room

• Unlike other care homes, there is no need to order food in advance

Leisure activities

• Newspapers can be ordered and delivered daily to your room

• Cranlea has well maintained garden to sit out in summer and residents can help with gardening

• Stimulating and wide ranging activities are organised by our Activities Co-ordinator

• We have a personal laundry facility and laundry service

• A pay telephone is available

• Religious services and meetings are arranged

• GP services available on request

• Our Hairdresser visits every week

• Our Chiropodist visits every 4 to 6 weeks or on request

• Dentist – visiting and local dental services are available

• The District Nurse visits by arrangement

• The Physiotherapist visits by arrangement

• Optician – visiting and local optical services are available

• Holistic therapists – details of local providers are available

Local area

The town centre of Newcastle is 7 miles away and we have the following facilities nearby: Metro Station, Gosforth Swimming Pool and the Metro Centre, which is 4 miles away
