At The Firs, we provide residential care for 40 older people with increasing physical frailty and mental health needs. Staff are on hand 24-hours a day to provide care and support.

Set in a quiet location and in its own beautiful grounds, The Firs is close to local amenities and excellent bus routes into town. Many of our rooms have lovely views of the gardens.

We offer:

Accommodation

• 39 single en-suite rooms all with showers

• 1 single en-suite room for respite care

• We encourage furniture and personal items to be brought in to make it your own home

• Telephone point in each room for your own direct line

• Television point and connections for satellite and digital TV

• Call bells in each room providing 24-hour help

• Rooms decorated to high standard

• There are 6 lounge areas with TV and video players and an extra quiet area for reading and relaxing, etc

• Specially equipped bathrooms so you can relax in comfort

• Lift to all floors

Dining

• You can choose from the menus each day

• Choice of healthy and nutritious meals and any special dietary requirements catered for

• Supper is served in the lounge areas or can be enjoyed in your own room

• Unlike other care homes, there is no need to order food in advance

Leisure activities

• Newspapers can be ordered and delivered daily to your room

• The Firs has a pleasant garden and patio area, ideal for sitting out in the summer

• Stimulating and wide-ranging activities are organised at our home each week by our activities coordinator

• Wheelchair access is available

• Car parking is available

• Pets are welcome at manager’s discretion

• We have a personal laundry facility and laundry service

• A pay telephone available

• Weekly religious services and meetings take place

• Local community bus/car service is available on request

Health and personal care

• GP is available on request

• District Nurses, Dentist, Optician and Physiotherapist visit by arrangement

• Holistic therapy available on request

• Our Hairdresser visits twice a week
