More Britons want to live in rural villages, research has shown

Most Britons dream about living in a three bedroom semi-detached property in a rural village, research has shown.

AA Home Emergency Response's study showed that a large open plan kitchen, living and dining area is the most sought-after feature because they are perfect for entertaining.

The findings show that British people not only want to be attached to their neighbours, but they also want them to be their friends.

Researchers found that 18% of respondents aspired to own this type of property, while rural villages are the most desired location (28%).

When it comes to the best possible views, gazing out at mountains or countryside (49%) was slightly more popular than having a property with a sea view (48%).

With more people wanting to live in rural areas, it is thought that this could lead to house prices in rural parts of the UK rising by up to 34%.
