Staff and customers at Anchor are brewing up ideas for a month’s worth of tea-related celebrations kicking off on International Older People’s Day.
“International Older People’s Day is such a wonderful occasion for activities, said Anchor’s Activity Development Officer Debbie Sharples.
“At Anchor we’ve held celebrations over a fortnight before, but this year we are ramping the celebrations right up and we’re calling October IOP-tea!”
Anchor mark the national day every year celebrating the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society.
This year tea has been chosen as Anchor’s main theme and money raised through community activities and events held by staff and customers will be donated to Anchor’s chosen charity; Contact the Elderly.
“Contact the Elderly is a wonderful charity that organise afternoon tea parties one Sunday each month for older people with little or no social support, said Debbie.
“The money we raise in October will really make a difference to the people supported by this charity and help set up new groups. Our partnership with Contact the Elderly gives us an opportunity to host tea parties in our own locations, for our customers to be volunteer drivers, or for our customers to go to tea parties in the community."
